While formal education provides the fundamental basis in the process of human becoming, non-formal education brings flexibility, adaptability, dynamism and creativity, having specific potential to contribute to the achievement of educational goals. In the present volume, the values of non-formal education are presented and rationally argued, concrete ways of its realization and specific contributions to the shaping of human personality are described. The message of the work is that, in order to ensure the effective and continuous development of individuals, to prepare them for successful integration into professional, personal and social life, an interactionist approach to the three forms of education (formal, non-formal and informal) and their integrated and synergistic use is necessary.


 


Daniel Mara (ORCID 0000-0002-1211-1504) (b. 1974 - Blaj, Alba County) is a PhD Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Socio-Human Sciences of the „Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, PhD supervisor in the field of „Educational Sciences” and member of the Doctoral School of Pedagogical Sciences at the Università degli studi di Bologna, Italy. The main scientific areas addressed are: inclusive education, differentiated pedagogy, curriculum adaptation, cognitive and metacognitive intervention, social inclusion, training of trainers; mentoring in education and training. He has authored, coordinated and co-authored numerous specialized works, including: Educational Mentoring in the Learning Society (coordinator and author, 2025), Sharing and Learning for Mentoring in Education (coordinator and co-author, 2023), Methodological Guide for Teaching the Optional Subject „Metacognitive Strategies” (coordinator and co-author, 2023), Mentoring for Successful Teaching Career (coordinator and co-author, 2022), Theoretical and Practical Approaches to Non-Formal Education. Interdisciplinary Examinations into Various Instructional Models (co-editor, 2021).


Mușata-Dacia Bocoș (ORCID 0000-0002-8108-7931) (b. 1968 - Ocna Mureș, Alba County) is a PhD professor at the Department of Educational Sciences, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca and PhD supervisor in the field of „Educational Sciences”. The main scientific fields covered are: theory, methodology and management of instruction; theory, methodology and management of curriculum; mentoring in education and training; interactive pedagogy; didactics of pedagogical disciplines. Her works include Educational Mentoring in the Learning Society (coordinator and author, 2025), Adult Education. Dictionary of pedagogical terms.
