The wind beneath the wings

Questo libro è un atto d’amore verso l’insegnamento e un omaggio a due culture – quella canadese e quella italiana – che insieme hanno creato un ambiente favorevole per la ricerca sulla formazione iniziale dell’insegnante. Descrive un modello, quello riflessivo-partecipativo con prospettiva interculturale, che nasce dall’esperienza d’insegnamento dell’autrice come formatrice madrelingua. La cornice dell’intero progetto è una costante scoperta interculturale all’interno del corso stesso che ha permesso ad allievi e all’insegnante di imbarcarsi in un viaggio metaforico professionale. Il modello diventa inevitabilmente il vento sotto le ali, aiutando gli allievi a creare e sperimentare nuove opportunità nell’insegnamento fino a diventare loro stessi il vento sotto le ali dei loro studenti.

This book is an act of love toward the teaching profession and also a homage to two different cultures – the Canadian one and the Italian one – which have created a favourable ambience for research on teacher training. It contains the description of a teacher training model – the reflective-participant approach within a cross-cultural perspective – which grows out of the author’s five years of teacher training experience in Italy at SSIS (Scuola di Specializzazione all’Insegnamento Scuola Secondaria) as an English language teacher trainer. The framework of the whole project is a continual cross-cultural awakening within the E.F.L. teacher training development itself which has allowed both trainees and trainer to embark on a professional discovery journey. The model inevitably becomes the wind beneath the wings, helping the trainees to create, experience and challenge new teaching opportunities and to become they themselves the wind beneath the wings of their students.
